.Anterior Function
.and Esthetics

.Concepts for developing anterior function, form, labial
.morphology and optical illusions.

Anterior function is the least studied and is often misunderstood among today's dental team. This course is designed to take you beyond esthetics and examine the proper role of our lingual morphology as it relates to function, form and phonetics. Once this is achieved we turn our attention to the esthetic aspect and optical illusions.

Using tooth colored dentin, enamel and transparent waxes, each participant will complete a six unit anterior wax-up with emphasis on:

* How to design the maxillary lingual of our central, lateral and canine for group and canine guidance using the "DeVreugd Compass Concept"

* How the envelope of function is designed into the anterior lingual morphology

* How to avoid porcelain fracture during parafunction and crossover movements

* How the silicone guide, from our wax-up, helps design proper preparation reduction for PFM's, pressed ceramic and CAD/CAM generated restorations

* How the use of color and labial morphology is used to create optical illusions

* How these techniques will aid the dental team in fabricating treatment plan wax-ups, provisionals, implants, pressed ceramics and other anterior restorations
